New Membership Development

Each fall and spring, we are proud to welcome a new member class to the Undergraduate Consulting Group. We are fortunate to receive a high volume of applications, which allows us to build a new member class that is reflective of the strength and diversity of GW’s student body.

All UCG members go through new member training. The sessions, held once per week introduce new members to the consulting industry and teach them the skills necessary to succeed in both recruiting and in the workplace. We place a particular emphasis on recruiting, and we are proud to partner with GW alumni at leading firms to advance these efforts. Additionally, we partner with outside firms that specialize in helping college students enter the consulting industry and are in constant contact with recruiters who hope to meet present UCG members. We are proud of our alumni, who consistently place at top firms across the industry. While GW is (sadly) not considered to be a target school, the Undergraduate Consulting Group consistently has members receive opportunities at firms like McKinsey, KPMG, and other top consulting firms.

training 1: consulting industry overview

New members receive a presentation that explains the diverse dimensions of the consulting industry. This session uncovers the various types of consulting and the range of services available. It also provides a glimpse into a multitude of esteemed consulting firms, providing information on their individual recruitment processes and projected timelines. This session empowers new members to navigate this dynamic industry’s recruitment process with awareness.

TRAINING 2: NETWORKING WORKSHOP

UCG's new members learn the importance of networking as well as the proper way to reach out to do so.

TRaining 3: resume & cover letters

Executive board members lead training on resume building and cover letter writing for our newest class of UCG-ers! We work on clearly conveying accomplishments in bullet forms and writing engaging letters that catch the eyes of recruiters.

Training 4: Behavioral intervies

New members receive information on what behavioral interviews look like in the consulting industry and how to succeed in this critical part of the recruitment process.

training 5: case interviews

This final training session gives new members an overview of the unique case interview part of the consulting recruitment process.
